Cock and Magpie
About This Spot
Stepping into Cock and Magpie is like settling into a well-worn story by the river’s edge — unhurried, welcoming, and quietly rich with character. Nestled along the banks of the Severn in Bewdley, this pub carries the comfortable hum of friendly gatherings, the gentle rhythm of live music weaving through the space, and the occasional clink of glasses echoing against the backdrop of rustic wooden beams and warm lighting.
The atmosphere here invites you to slow down and savor the moment, whether you’ve just finished a riverside stroll or are simply looking for an evening to drift away from daily cares. There’s a genuine sense of place that permeates the room — one where laughter drifts above the soft murmur of conversations and the air is scented with the familiar aromas of freshly cooked fare. The bar hums quietly with craft cocktails and hearty pints, while the attentive staff create a feeling of ease that encourages guests to linger.
The menu feels thoughtfully grounded in local roots, with dishes that echo the rhythm of the seasons and the land nearby. From the crispness of a perfectly poured cider to generous plates of comfort food like fish and chips or a well-crafted burger, each bite seems to tell a story of the region’s flavors. There’s an inviting honesty in the food and drinks — no fuss, just good ingredients and a touch of care.
One of the pub’s subtle charms is its quirky warmth: a vintage charm carried through the nooks and crannies, the friendly nods from staff, and that delightful surprise of a small train running above the bar, playfully weaving through the space like a tiny celebration of nostalgia. It’s the kind of place that feels alive without ever rushing, where the glow from the log fire beckons as easily as the murmur of music on a good night.
Whether you find yourself here for a quiet pint, a lively music evening, or a satisfying meal shared with friends, Cock and Magpie offers a connection to the local landscape and community that quietly lingers when you step back outside. It’s less about a grand statement and more about those simple, grounded moments: the clatter of plates, a well-poured Guinness, the river breeze just beyond the door, and the pull to return again.

Myself and my partner come to the cock and magpie after a nice walk for some food and drinks, we have the Wednesday offer 2-4-1 pizzas, both meat feast and we had a bowl of chips and pork belly bites. Food is absolutely amazing and definitely worth the trip down! Highly recommend!

Just got home from the Cock and Magpie having been for their 2 for 1 steak night. What a fantastic meal! One ribeye, one sirloin with trimmings and a bottle of Malbec for £56! Steaks sourced from the local butcher and veg from the farm shop both in Bewdley. Log fire burning and the hospitality was excellent. Have also been there for the pie night on a Thursday which is equally as good. Will definitely be returning and would recommend to anyone who wants a great steak at a bargain price Proud to support local businesses.

I popped in on Sunday for a cheeky pint and ended up ordering a steak and I have to say, the food was absolutely brilliant. The bar is in a perfect spot right on the river, with the nostalgic aromas of chips and ice cream drifting over from next door. Honestly, what more could you ask for?

A quirky pub, full of history, on the River Severn in Bewdley. Delicious, reasonable, priced meals with a welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, and an incredible view. It even has its own train, which runs around the bar above the customer's heads. Well worth a visit!

Came here with a few friends and had the high steak sandwich and my god it was beautiful especially with their homemade garlic butter. It has a train what goes round the whole restaurant too. Love the cocktails too. Reasonable prices too!
